This year, we\u2019re celebrating 19 years as swing dance teachers for beginners in Durham, Washington and Newcastle \u2014 and honestly, it\u2019s one of the best decisions we\u2019ve ever made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our journey with swing dancing began back in the early 1990s, long before we ever imagined we\u2019d be teaching together. We were drawn in by the music, the moves, the energy, and the sheer joy of connection. At the time, it was simply something we loved to do. What we didn\u2019t know was that this love would slowly grow into a life\u2019s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 2 January 2007, we took a leap of faith and began teaching swing dance classes in Durham, Washington and Durham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beginners! Not performers.
Not \u201cnatural dancers\u201d.
But real people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Busy people. Nervous people. Curious people. People who arrived saying, \u201cI\u2019ve got two left feet\u201d or \u201cI\u2019m not confident enough\u201d \u2014 often with a hopeful smile and a bit of courage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, we\u2019ve travelled to different parts of the world to train, learn and dance. We\u2019ve been incredibly fortunate to learn from many inspiring teachers along the way, and we remain deeply grateful for their generosity, wisdom and passion. Just as importantly, we\u2019ve met so many wonderful people and made lifelong friends \u2014 one of the greatest gifts swing dancing has given us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Philosophy as Swing Dance Teachers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We believe everyone, especially beginners deserve:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

patience<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Not pressure.
Not perfection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just a safe, friendly space to learn, laugh and grow in confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And we see the magic happen again and again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swing dance has a way of helping people:<\/strong>
\u2728 move with more ease and confidence
\u2728 connect with others naturally
\u2728 trust their bodies again
\u2728 feel playful, capable and alive<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nineteen years on, we\u2019re celebrating every beginner who walked through the door feeling unsure \u2014 and stayed long enough to feel at home.
Every friendship formed.
Every smile, every move, and \u201cI can\u2019t believe I just did that!\u201d moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
